Sports, Not Heavy Crime [MP3] Treat Me Mean, I Need The Repu [MP3] Weaving hypnotic grooves with nostalgic jazz and using scratchy sampling and a variety of sound effects along live played instruments, Xploding Plastix does an excellent job covering a wide range of styles. Dark-toned, full of raw energy and sleazy acid jazz, Xploding Plastix’ Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents (2001) carries a somewhat funky attitude, entertains with its exciting rhythms, cool looping beats and humorous hints, creating a special and lively pulsating atmosphere. Human mannerism is the subject of most (if not all) music and art. Panic Ensemble provide a new take on this theme. When they approached their music and lyrics, they actually wrote a psychology book. Panic Ensemble’s debut album is a brilliant survey of the human psyche with special focus on the wonderful behaviors of fear, obsession and panic. With lyrics based partly on professional literature, their work has a solid base in reality. On the other hand, with their amazing musical arrangements, they posses a celestial aura. To bring this down to earth and give a bit of a clue about what kind of music they do, I will just have to throw in Rock, Jazz, Klezmer, Electronica and most of all Cabaret as categorizing genres. Panic Ensemble’s debut was recently released on Earsay Records. Links: MySpace Profile
Mirador [MP3] Cutting Ice to Snow [MP3] Efterklang Parades video teaser [YouTube] As the curtains go up over Efterklang’s Parades, it seems as if a Danish ship has set sail on the stage. It’s a theater spectacle of the first degree. The music holds within it amazing Operatic qualities, being pompous and yet keeping close to primal emotions. Efterklang show yet again that they create in a cultural environment that has developed for centuries, they don’t come out of nothing, they show to hold dear the cultural heritage of Europe. Efterklang’s work is a direct continuation of the classical divinity of old. Links: Buy this album Official website MySpace profile
Kaleidoscope [MP3] The Backward Song [MP3] The Great B [MP3] Layering enough thin layers will create a space. Despite using matter, it won’t create a block of matter, there will be nothing solid. You will end up with something similar to a cloud, a nebula. Just like in a nebula, in this newly created cloud you can float, swim. In Alexandra Veanna Gil Cohen, former Zegunder dude, creates the space and provides Maya Goldshtein’s voice with a nebula to float in. The attached MP3s are some of their B-sides, and you can download their entire debut album here. Links: Alexandra Veanna @ Myspace Download the full album
Mir [MP3] Rios [MP3] Murcof, Truffaz and Singh @ Montreux (part I) [YouTube] Murcof, Truffaz and Singh @ Montreux (part II) [YouTube] Murcof is a Mexican Electronica artist. He infuses in his music classical themes and principles with Techno beats, all while keeping his music minimal and clean. His wonderful orchestral arrangements personify the Techno beats and give them a whole new set of meanings.
Talvin Singh creates an innovative fusion of Indian bhangra music and Drum ‘n Bass Electronica. His education on the tabla is classical, in contrast his work to date is very club oriented.
Erik Truffaz, having been the son of a saxophone player, is a kind of born Jazz musician, and as such grew up in the scene, and performed since he was a child. His Jazz encompasses the traditional, the experimental and even classical music.
These three have joined hands at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2006 in Canada Switzerland, playing live, each on his instrument: Murcof on the laptop, Truffaz on the trumpet and Singh on the tabla. The pieces they did were composed by Murcof, and include new adaptations to some of his best works. The combination is superb, as it’s always a wonderful experience to re-experience great music in new and wonderful ways. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to release the recorded material from that performance. Links: Murcof’s website Erik Truffaz’s website Talvin Singh’s website Montreux Jazz Festival

Falling Horses [MP3] Towards The Bare Hill [MP3] Europe was always out to conquer the world, if it’s by sheer force and technology or by culture, and from the north came the Vikings. These times are long gone, and now Europe is on the defense more than on the attack. However, Europe, and especially the scions of the terrifying Vikings, is still making music for war. Blood thirsty music, overflowing with power, with glory, taking over, feeling every inch, conquering the listener and all that is around. Efterklang’s new album, in continuation to their first, is powerful and conquering, and one can wonder if he will ever get to get conquered in such a divine way.
Efterklang’s new mini album will be released on the Leaf label on April 2nd. Links: Buy the new album @ Posteverything.com (directly from the label) Official website The Leaf Label
The evolution of ideas is, like the evolution of man, a peculiar thing. This set, starting at one point with a clear idea, and going to another place, makes you wonder at what point did our evolution start, and what was the idea behind it. At the end, of course, just like here the idea doesn’t really matter, it’s all about the music.

This is the first version, a final extended version is available here. In this Indie party you won’t be jumping up and down, screaming along the guitars. In this Indie party, you won’t chew on the same songs over and over again, turning them into a horrible lolly pop. In this Indie party you will House music, and it’s will be more Indie then any guitar you ever heard. This party will be broken, it will be shattered by styles, fractured by beats and it will hammer deep into you. However, this Indie party will be united by one, it will be united by Mirah. This entire party, that will shot you to the dance floor, is all about Mirah and her music. Indie never sounded more kicking, and Mirah never made dance so much, although she did made me feel oh so much already.
This set is a mix of Mirah’s work, but it revolves mainly around the brilliant remixes album she just released titled Joyride. Unlike other remixes albums this one proved to be a masterpiece not only by reflecting other masterpieces, but on its own right, a brilliant and surprising collection of ways for you to get carried away by, to hear Mirah in ways you never dreamed about.

Smiger [MP3] Julia Pastrana [MP3] The Mosquito And The Abandoned [MP3] A last goodbye’s tune is something that you carry forever. You carry that in the image of the person from whom you parted, you carry that in your memories and emotions. You will hear it forever every time the image of that person will shine in your mind. Every time you will hear it, that person will come to mind. Goodbyes music is dangerous, it can call memories that you wish to repress, and music can come, and does come, without us calling it. Music is independent. So, pad your goodbyes with the right music, pad your parting with what you wish to be remembered by. In an utopia we will all be remembered with Kaada’s music, music that has both joy and sadness in it, to endless extent. Music that has love, that is love. That’s the person that went away.
